Arenas out of halfway houseBasketball Betting Lines05/07/2010 - Washington, DC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas on Friday morning reportedly left the halfway house where he was confined as part of his sentencing for a felony gun charge. Arenas was sentenced to 30 days in the halfway house, and The Washington Post reported that he left at 7 a.m. and returned home. Arenas was also sentenced to two years probation, and was also required to register as a gun offender, donate $5,000 to victims of violent crimes fund and complete 400 hours of community service. The punishment came as a result of Arenas pleading guilty in January to the charge of carrying a pistol in the District of Columbia without a license. He was sentenced in late March. The problems for Arenas began in December, when he and teammate Javaris Crittenton reportedly got into an argument after a card game. Crittenton allegedly said he should shoot Arenas in his surgically repaired left knee. On December 21, at Verizon Center, Arenas is said to have placed guns on a chair next to Crittenton's locker with a note that said "pick one." Arenas has indicated that he brought the guns in as a prank. Arenas and Crittenton were suspended by NBA commissioner David Stern for the rest of the season on January 27, following Arenas' guilty plea. But as that has run out, Arenas is free to continue playing basketball. He has four seasons left on his contract with the Wizards.
